Slovenian Nationals Residing Outside of Slovenia

Slovenia citizens residing outside of Slovenia may vote in Slovenia. If they reside in another EU Member State, they may also vote in their residency EU Member State, but may only vote once.

Voter Registration

Who is eligible to vote?
In Slovenia, you are eligible to vote if you:
  • Have Slovenian or another EU citizenship,

  • Have reached the age of 18 on election day, and

  • Have not been deprived of your right to vote.

How do I register?
Slovenian citizens must inform the State Election Commission that you want to vote abroad and you must communicate their intention to vote in person at a diplomatic or consular representative of Slovenia or by post. This can be submitted online.

Voting

Slovenian citizens residing abroad must vote in person at the diplomatic or consular representative of Slovenia or by post.

Additionally, Slovenians who do not have a registered permanent address in Slovenia can also vote at the headquarters of the local electoral commission (OMNIA) and this voting option should be selected when communicating voting from abroad to the State Election Commission.
In-Person Voting at the Diplomatic or Consular Representive
Voters can vote at a diplomatic or consular representative office of Slovenia on Election Day. Voters should appear between 9 am and 5 pm local time and should bring a personal ID.
By Post
Voters who selected to vote by post will be sent voting materials at their address abroad. Materials must be sent back to either the address of the local election commission, which will be already printed on the return envelope enclosed with the voting materials, or to the address of the Slovenian diplomatic or consular representative.

Information for EU National Living in Slovenia

EU citizens from other EU Member States who live in Slovenia may vote in either their home Member State or in Slovenia, their residency Member State, but may only vote once.

Registering to Vote

To vote in Slovenia, you must register in your place of residence in Slovenia. Once registered, you will automatically receive information about European elections.

Who is eligible to vote?
In Slovenia, you are eligible to vote if you:
  • Have Slovenian or another EU citizenship,
  • Have reached the age of 18 on election day, and
  • Have not been deprived of your right to vote.

​EU citizens living in Slovenia but have either: (1) a permanent residence permit and registered permanent residence in Slovenia or (2) a certificate of registration of residence and a registered temporary residence in Slovenia.
How do I register?

EU citizens must register to vote by submitting a request to the Ministry of the Interior either by post or personally. For information to include in your registration, please click here.

The deadline to register is Saturday 25 May 2024.

Informacije za slovenske državljane, ki prebivajo zunaj Slovenije

Slovenski državljani, ki prebivajo zunaj Slovenije, lahko glasujejo v Sloveniji. Če prebivajo v drugi državi članici EU, lahko glasujejo tudi v državi članici EU, v kateri prebivajo, vendar lahko glasujejo le enkrat.

Glasovanje

Slovenski državljani, ki živijo v tujini, morajo glasovati osebno pri diplomatskem ali konzularnem predstavništvu Slovenije ali po pošti.

Glasovanje osebno pri diplomatskem ali konzularnem predstavništvu
Volivci lahko na dan volitev glasujejo na diplomatskem ali konzularnem predstavništvu Slovenije. Volivci naj se oglasijo med 9. in 17. uro po lokalnem času in prinesejo s sabo osebni dokument.
Po pošti
Volivcem, ki so izbrali glasovanje po pošti, bo glasovalno gradivo poslano na naslov v tujini. Gradivo je treba vrniti bodisi na naslov okrajne volilne komisije, ki bo že odtisnjen na povratni ovojnici, priloženi volilnemu gradivu, bodisi na naslov slovenskega diplomatskega ali konzularnega predstavništva.

Kako se prijavim?

Rok za prijavo je sobota, 25. maj 2024.
